Australia Win Sixth ICC World Cup, Beat India By Six Wickets!
Australia have beaten India comfortably at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win their sixth ICC World Cup. Travis Head has been voted Man of the Match after a match-winning century in the final, helping his side win by six wickets.
To the surprise of many, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl. However, this decision proved to be key at the end of the day as they restricted India to 240 in the first innings. As expected the pitch was slow and Australia's commendable fielding efforts boosted them even more.
India fought back in the second innings picking three key wickets early on. But the partnership of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne proved to be the difference for the Aussies. Head smashed a brilliant 137 off 120 balls whereas Labuschagne played the perfect supporting role scoring 58 off 110 balls.
The loss means that India are yet to win an ICC trophy since their Champions Trophy win under MS Dhoni in 2013. Where do the Men In Blue go from here? Will we see changes in India's coaching department? Let me know your thoughts...
