These women are so empowering!
Yesterday the Afghans in New Delhi joined the #national uprising against the Taliban campaign and protested against the Taliban and their draconian regime at Jantar Mantar.
The protesters also came together to extend their solidarity with the resistance forces who are fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. The crowd consisted of every age group but women and children outshined the rest and were seen in large numbers despite heavy downpour.
They were shouting slogans such as ‘Pakistan Pakistan get out of Afghanistan’,’ ISI stop killing Afghans’, ‘down down Pakistan. They also showed their solidarity with the resistance forces and chanted slogans in their support . The Afghan protesters told the Indian reporters present there that they want peace in their country and India must support the resistance as it is the last hope for a free Afghanistan. They also condemned the Taliban for their inhuman actions against the women protesters in Afghanistan. Afghan women were whipped, beaten, detained and even lashed for carrying protests against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Taliban justified their actions by saying ‘it is illegal to hold protests without permission approved by their government’.
The protesting Afghans had a message to the international community and questioned their silence on Afghanistan. They urged the international community and the UN to not recognize the Taliban as they are the same tyranny of 20 years back and haven’t changed. ‘The Taliban are still carrying out public executions, abducting girls, looting homes, beating women and silencing them and there is no media coverage on this. The Taliban have censored the media houses and controls the nature of content that goes out to the public and the world. There is no official news about the real situation in Afghanistan but fortunately the locals are recording the heartbreaking situation and sending messages to the world via their social media handles.
The Afghans moved from Jantar Mantar to the Pakistan Embassy to protest against the involvement of Pakistan and ISI in Afghanistan. Reports by the NRF show that Pakistan is helping the Taliban to bombard Panjshir by sending Pakistani militants, drones and helicopters.
