Right to education
On Tuesday, a group of Kabul girls came together and lifted their voices in unity. They have requested the Taliban not to politicise education.
Since the Taliban took control on August 15, 2021, girls above the seventh grade have been prohibited from attending school or university.
As a result, girls have petitioned the Taliban to reopen girls' schools.
At the same time, because the term has ended with the end of year, these girls in grades 7 and above have been promoted to the next class without having to take an examination.
However, this group of girls opposes the idea of being admitted to the next grade solely not on the basis of one's ability and merit based performance but rather just getting promoted quantitively.
Furthermore, these girls have petitioned the international community and the United Nations to persuade and induce the Taliban to reopen secondary schools and above.
Simultaneously, several teachers in Kabul have been secretly educating girls since the Taliban has prohibited secondary above schooling girls from getting education until now.
Moreover, multiple women's groups have demonstrated against development of various institutions of the Taliban and their imposition on women and girls over the last three months.
