One good human that you meet in your life restores faith in humanity and keeps it going. Touching story.
An unbelievable story in these times of fanatic extremism knocking at our doors and hearts constantly. Souls like Narendra tell a different tale that nourishes and soothes our hearts. Prayers for the departed soul and a lesson of unconditional love learnt.
What a heart warming account sir . We need more stories like these, which keep u going in the troubled times
This year’s Eid , which was almost 4 weeks ago, was very different. Like last year there was no going to the Eidgah for prayers, no possibility of meeting friends and family. These feelings were common to many. For me it was also my first Eid in over 20 years without Narendra Yadav Inspector.
I first met him when I was Incharge of the Railway Police and he was Inspector at Lucknow Junction. He told me that he has very good buffaloes and the family is in the milk products business. Despite my reluctance Yadav declared that hence the khoya() for the Eid special that my wife makes would come from his dairy. The first year , when Eid came, Yadav delivered high quality khoya and I accepted it. It must have been good quality because the missus approved. As usual her sewai dishes were a hit with guests and I ended up stealing from the fridge and getting caught.
I got transferred and so did Yadav and I forgot about his promise. I was posted at Bareilly which is 300 km from Lucknow when the next Eid came around. Out of no where Yadav was at the door a day before Eid with his high quality packet of khoya. He never defaulted over the next 20 years. I was frequently transferred, twice to N Delhi and in the meantime he retired and went back to his village. But the khoya always came. Our Eid was not complete without Narendra Yadav’s dairy product.
Two days before this pandemic hit Eid I got a call from an unknown number. It was Yadav’s son he said. Covid had taken away Narendra Yadav but in his last days he had told his son to deliver khoya to us for Eid. The young man wanted my address to deliver the packet.
I wonder why Yadav cared for me so much. Thinking about him on his death bed instructing his son breaks my heart. I had cried when I had got that phone call. My eyes are filling up as I write these words.
The heavens await you Narendra Yadav.
