Hello World!
It’s five in the morning. Swollen eyes, minor headaches and the morning alarm shrieks and hints at the inevitable routine for the day. The cool morning breeze sweeps down the head as I remove the blanket and there’s nothing but a deep sigh. Slowly crawling out of these blankets, I stretch and see my roomie still sleeping. Ah! Another day and he is not going to have shower. Such an engineer-thing to do! However, I go ahead and get ready for my morning routines. Have you seen 3 idiots? This Hirani-directed masterpiece had some cool moments featuring guys having fun in the hostel bathrooms during the shower, right? Sorry to disappoint you all but that’s the least probable thing to happen. While you are up for ablutions and water’s gone or washing your clothes in the morning hours, it all comes under the list of trivial problems in comparison to the long sitting hours juggling codes with coffee.
It gets hectic while preparing for the classes and by seven, our encounter with the mess holds no surprise as we find it full. After finding the mess in a complete mess, our day starts for the classes. After completing my seven hours sleep cycle in the class, we head back to our hostel rooms to actually study for the classes. All hail YouTube the Saviour! Brainstorming coding problems and clinching the fists in desperation when the codes don’t work are the key moments in an engineer’s life. Irrespective of the academic activities, we all know how it sums up all when you sit with your friends who call you “Bhai” as often as Alia Bhatt calls “Shiva” in the movie Brahmastra and playing late night Volleyball and Table-Tennis.
Though I still suffer the pangs of separation from the parents yet I feel after all this sacrifice, Engineering is not just a degree to die for but an opportunity to live for and abide by.
