On 12th December 2012, based on Sitagaon, 44th Bn of ITBP launched an area Domination Patrol. CT/GD Ramesh Chandra was one of the member of the patrol which was tasked to conduct De-mining and combing operations. while negotiating the steep incline moving towards the nullah, maintaining the tactical posture, suddenly there was sound of gunshot emanating from the dead ground ahead where a group of naxals have laid ambush and were in wait for ITBP troops to come within their killing zone. CT/GD Ramesh Chandra opened retaliatory fire from his AK-47 Rifle and pinned down the hidden Naxals as a result they were unable to counter the fire. This provided ample opportunity for rest of the troops to react the situation and open fire on the Naxalites.
CT/GD Ramesh Chandra without fearing for his safety, completely demolished the nefarious designs of the naxalites and they fled for their lives taking advantage of terrain covered by imperviously thick vegetation and broken ground along the nullah. CT/GD Ramesh Chandra was instrumental in neutralizing a naxalite ambush upholding the traditions of ITBP “ Shaurya , Dridta & Karamnishtha” in their true spirit.
