As the year which was full of ups and downs and achievements and tantrums in the world of football comes to an end, we saw the abolition and demolition of European Super League - the most spoken about topic along with the transfers of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
If we're to talk about favourite moments particularly, it has to be the signing of French centre back Raphael Varane for me. The way Manchester United introduced him just made it beyond special for me, on the opening day of the new season against our arch rivals in Leeds United followed by that sensational result with the former Real Madrid man watching from the stands.
Lifting silverware easily beats all of that, but unfortunately that tide has turned off on this club, recently. Many of you would disagree with the return of Ronaldo topping the charts, and I would absolutely agree to that. But that Varane signing has a slight upper hand for me over Ronaldo or even Sancho (who has been a dream signing for me, mind you) and the Cavani extension. I felt connected with that player being a part of the club I adore. This was about some on field moments, off the field the club didn't disappoint one bit with the release of Sir Alex Ferguson's documentary.
2021 has brought agony more than moments to cherish for the Red half of Manchester, and hence the less favourite moments to count from and that might be the case for atleast upcoming 2 years. But being a die-hard fanatic of the club, one can never stop believing. It is something the club stands for - never giving up. I will not say that it was a year to forget, but a year where we learned and grew throughout, together and in the name of Manchester United.
